Kathleen Parker at WaPo questions our authenticity

I guess all press is good press, but Kathleen Parker doesn't get it:

So the question is this: Do you support rape?

And, of course, no one (except a rapist) does, right?

Yet, 30 Republican members of the U.S. Senate have been getting phone calls lately from people asking, "Why do you support rape?"

These callers most likely are familiar with the fake Web site RepublicansForRape.org, which recounts the recent skirmish over Sen. Al Franken's "anti-rape" amendment to the Senate defense appropriations bill.

For something so un-funny, the subject has become an exercise in the absurd.

A fake website?  Now that is absurd!  Let me be clear.  This movement is real.  It is so true and so real that some might describe it as trill.

We all agree on two things.  First, the Republican party is the best party in the world.  Our party is the party of record low taxes and near record high deficits.  Our party is the party of free market solutions for the things that we like and paternalism for the things that we don't like.  Our party espouses Christian values.  Our party makes war.  Our party will always stand against socialist programs and government healthcare; except for Social Security, Medicare, Tricare, Medicaid, and others that are too popular to publicly oppose.  Our party is undeniably incredible.

Second, being a "victim" of rape is, at best, a minor inconvenience and can be acceptably swept under the rug.  Binding arbitration can and does deliver sufficient remedies for "victims" of gang rapes so breathtaking that the victim requires reconstructive surgery.  I can't provide any examples of restitution because the proceedings of such cases are kept secret.  There's nothing wrong with that.  In fact, concealing these rapes from the public is the only suitable way to talk about them.  Rape techniques are trade secrets of the rapist – sexual intellectual property – and they deserve protection.

This movement is real and it is growing.  We've got a Democrat on our side now.  We will not go gentle into that good night.

You forgot to mention that Republicans also strongly support the military, especially the continuing death and dismemberment of lower-level enlistees, which is structured and operated very much like our beloved Grand Old Party itself -- i.e: none of the Pentagon top brass felt the effects of those 'bad apples' at Abu Ghraib carrying out their orders; in the same way, loyal soldier Scooter Libby was allowed to sacrifice himself nobly to protect Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and that man whose name I can't quite recall at moment who was the president under them. (You know, the one whose terrible decisions besmirched the sterling reputations of Dick and Rummy.) Sacrifice by the 'little people,' on the battlefield or in the office, is fundamental to our free-market society, whether it be your job, your health, your honor, or your life. Republicans understand and exalt these great American truths. Huzzah and God Bless the USA!

Kathleen Parker would do better to stay at home and servilely keep her husband happy, unless she's a lesbian, and then let her move to France where she belongs!

I read the Kathleen Parker article/link. Boy did I laugh!

Sure enough her argument that the republicans acted out principle. And the naughty democrats tried to muddy the waters and smear them.

And we all know - from Fox News - she's exactly right!

Blockquote tags are used when I'm quoting the article.

For something so un-funny, the subject has become an exercise in the absurd.

1 - Rape is unfunny.

I think the Halliburton gang rapists would disagree. I think for them gang raping (both anally and vaginally) was probably the most fun they ever had in their lives. And just think of the painful withdrawal they had to go through when they came back to the US.

You can't drug and rape here. It's a great land, but such activity is against the law. And ironically - if you rape, get caught and go to jail - you may be in for some fun in the hoosegow and learn what it feels like to be on the wrong end of the stick.

Something tells me that it doesn't feel good.

So those poor poor Americans had to return to having sex with their wives and girlfriends. The horror. The unspeakable horror. Of it. Did you like that? That's my best Marlon Brando impression.

How can I know they were America? Come now dear reader. This is Cheney's former (and probably still current) company. Do you think they would do something as ghastly as allow foreign rapist on American held soil?

Heaven forbid. That would be the worst thing ever.

2. - The subject has become an exercise in the absurd.

You go girl, go!

Picture it: 30 Republicans, all men, all white, pitted against a young woman who says she was raped by a gang of Halliburton thugs. Voilà: Corporate evil incarnate vs. feminine innocence.
Oh, my. "...who says she was" That silly little potentially lying vixen bitch!

I checked Kathleen Parker's Wikipedia page. I wonder how she'd feel if one of her three children came home smiling saying "Guess what happened in school today mom?!? Today I was drugged and anally gang raped!" Maybe it wouldn't be a big deal. After all, they are all boys.

It's odd when you think of it. All rapists have mothers.

As always - God Bless America!

You go girl !
Faux News seems to me like an "exercise in the absurd." So what I want to know is what is wrong with a little absurd exercise? I was told all exercise is good for you, I extrapolated that even gang rape must be good for you.

October 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterRaggMopp

But they *have* to kill that amendment! It's *important* for these guys working for KBR/Halliburton to be able to relax after a hard day of work by raping a five foot one inch blonde twenty year old girl who weighs a hundred and five pounds soaking wet!!

For those who have come to this site because of Ms. Parker's misguided attack, please know that if you support these 30 Republicans in their defense of rape, there is a Facebook page for you!

As a white male, I feel that I am raped all the time. Constantly passed up on state jobs, or government contracts for less-qualified minority workers. No visible form of government assistance due to my skin colour or socio-economic standing. No 'American-Caucasian College Fund' that I can use to freely learn a new trade.

I think its absolutely hysterical.

Almost as funny as some pandering left liberals who just want to add to the confusion instead of clearing the waters on issues. Since your website is obviously aimed at infuriating people, [especially those dumb enough to not understand the sarcasm] rather than educating them - I fear you fall into the above mentioned category.

I applaud your message, but your delivery is neither funny nor useful in any way other than as smear. Its a shame.

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWhite Male

White Male, do you mean to say this site is meant as sarcasm? Wherever would you have gotten that idea? Since some members of the previous administration whose name shall go unmentioned in the ranks of the GOP have wholeheartedly endorsed the kind of torture that good Germans at the Nuremberg trials were hanged for committing, how much of a stretch is it that they would also embrace rape, especially committed overseas, in time of war, by contracted employees of the US government? (Aren't they almost like our sacred troops?)

Since Abu Ghraib has been laughed at by this crowd as nothing more serious than a fraternity hazing, why are you unable to chuckle at some blonde bimbo who no doubt got what she was asking for? (I'm sure Ann Coulter will soon write a column making that point, if she doesn't have one already.) Do the White Males who still inhabit the Republican Party actually have the kind of personal decency that rejects a vicious rape but continues to dismiss torture? I have yet to see it; perhaps you're the first.

I also object to you characterizing conservatives as too dumb to appreciate satire -- just because Roger Ailes can't compete with The Daily Show and Fox News recently went to great lengths to make sure their audience knew the difference between Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" and The Nation magazine's satire, "Going Rouge," is no reason to come to the conclusion your viewers are incredibly stupid.

John Stuart Mill once wrote; "Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative."

Don't tell me you believe that to be true?

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterRSJ

Are you that insecure with your point of view that you have to label your opponent as being "for" something as horrible as rape?

Engaging in logical fallacy is no way to win a debate.

My fist is in the air!

You poor man. It's just one of awful indignities of history. You were born too late. If this was, say 1920, and you lived in a place like Alabama, hell, you could rape yourself up a storm - they'd have to be black of course. But rape is rape, right? Yee Haw. And if you were *really* lucky you might even get the chance to be involved in a lynching.

White Male, do you know the song "Strange Fruit"? I know you don't:

Strange Fruit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_fruit

Poor white people, they aren't even immortalized in song. Stupid Jewish songwriters - if they can write a song about "strange fruit" or White Christmas - why not one for White People?

[hums] I'm dreaming of a White Person, just like the one...

---

Suggestion:

1. Do your homework and join a company with connections. A company that could be the next Halliburton or Blackwater.

2. Wait for the next war lead by a republican president.

If you're very lucky somebody like Palin will become President. Things could start to improve for you as soon as 2012 if there's war with Iran.

Yeah, I know. Even if all that wonderful stuff happens and things work out perfectly you might have to wait about 5 or 6 years to get your chance. But in a situation like Iran under iron fisted Palin I'm sure you could get into all kinds of mischief and be your proud white man self. You might not get to rape a white woman. But other opportunities might present themselves.

In fact, I believe that "Proud White Male" is a better sig. Be white! Be proud! Oh wait, that doesn't sound right for some reason...

Except if you're a republican, right? "Logical fallacy" - did I ever tell you the joke about Lee Atwater, Carl Rove, Willie Horton, Saddam Hussien and a burning bush? Well, see. They've just left a bar and the bush says....

Wow, got me there. I don't know how to respond to such wit. Once you brought up Willie Horton I knew I was in trouble. I mean, who would ever think that a Dem would be for 1st degree murderes committing rape while on an ACLU petitioned and lib governer ok'd weekend furlough program?

No one would ever come up with a website called
www.MassLibsforwilliehortoncommitingassualtkidnappingandrapewhileonafurlough.com

That would be silly...........oh wait.

Sorry, you certainly have something going here, but I respectfully oppose your views and am a proponent of old-fashion consented sex. Although, I must admit: if conservatives can fit pro-life, pro-gun, pro-war, pro-hunting, anti-gay-marriage, capital punishment and Jesus in the same sentence, what the hell, why not throw rape in there too? It hasn't made any f**king sense for a while anyway.

Assuming for a moment that Kathleen has a point in here article (where I found out about this website) and the law Franken proposed is not enforceable and should be altered. The attitude of the party of "NO" was consistent: Let's just say a big NO and not contribute in any constructive way.

There was a time when I could respect conservatives' point of view. Now I just feel like throwing up.

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFP

@JD Republicanism has always been the party of "if you're not with us, you're against us." If you're not for rape, then obviously you must be against it. Doubly obvious, you must be a Liberal.

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBigD

(I'm sure Ann Coulter will soon write a column making that point, if she doesn't have one already.)

RSJ, does this count?

In case this won't create a link, you can c/p the following into your browser:

I wonder if Al Franken is at all associated with this Website. I'm sure he at least knows about it. MN should be proud of his style.

We'll find out soon enough.

Anyway, why do you care if the Republicans are the party of "NO?" You have the House, you have the Senate. You don't need the Republicans. Do something!

We dare ya.

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJD

Hey, it looks like the Oklahoma House and Senate have joined the cause. They have a bill that would require doctors to rape any woman prior to performing an abortion for her. Of course, they only want to do it with a vaginal transponder, but still, shouldn't that count? Hooray for Oklahoma!

October 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterUzza

>> Hooray for Oklahoma!

Sheesh.
Okay. JD now's your chance. Explain that!.

My theory is that

- Liberals will leave the state to get abortions. They will reproduce less.
- "God fearing" real Christian conservatives won't leave the state. They will reproduce more.
- White trash can't leave the state (or isn't smart enough to). They will continue to reproduces at a rate higher than rich conservatives. White trash votes republican.
- Ergo - republicans win votes

Or is it(?):

- "barefoot and pregnant" needs a technological upgrade to involve doctors inserting modern technology into womens' vaginas,

Where's my logical fallacy? Eh?

God Bless America.

Are you talking to me or to yourself F.Murray?

I guess I struck a nerve with the angry liberal who creadted and/or loves a site called republicansforrape.org.

Who knew that they would be so thin skinned?

Angry, liberal and depressed is no way to go through life F. Murray.

October 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJD

Hey guys, looks like Al Franken himself may be joining your website!!

n the 1995 New York magazine profile of "Saturday Night Live," Franken is described among a group of show writers sounding out a possible parody of Andy Rooney centered on a sedative pill bottle found in the "60 Minutes" essayist's desk. Franken and fellow writers Norm MacDonald and Jim Downey kick around fictional Rooney responses to the discovery of the bottle.

The article quotes Franken putting an edgy twist on the discussion, saying in a Rooney voice: "And 'I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then when Lesley's passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her.' Or 'That's why you never see Lesley until February.' Or, 'When she passes out I put her in various positions and take pictures of her."

>> Angry, liberal and depressed is no way to go through life F. Murray.

That's it? Poking fun at me is all you got? I suppose Rush Limbaugh's books are - in fact - nothing more than a "how to" to poke fun. So that's all the average right winger can do. Lame.

C'mon. Provide an explanation on how the GOP isn't being held hostage by the (extreme) right wing.

Or, wait a minute, you've never said what you believe in. Maybe you support the GOP proving into vaginas. And maybe rape is a man's prerogative.

Well?

"Or, wait a minute, you've never said what you believe in. Maybe you support the GOP proving into vaginas. And maybe rape is a man's prerogative.

Well?"

I believe that something as serious and horrible as rape should not be joked about ( as Al Franken has) nor should it be used as shock value in order to score a cheap political point (as this website has)

I also believe that you and those that put up this site are sad, demented and very shallow people who are extremely insecure in themselves and their point of view. So much so, that they have to demonize those that they disagree with as supporting rape.

What are you afraid of? Raise your self esteem. Make a point and defend it logically. Are you capable?

If you can't, at least be funny about it. Even your attempt at humour is sub par. C'mon, Kieth Olbermann has to have taught you something.
