Senator Daniel Inouye: An ally across the aisle?

Great news, folks!

We might be a minority in Congress, but that doesn't mean we can't get our way!  Senator Daniel Inouye, Democrat from Hawaii, may be intervening on our behalf.  From HuffPo:

An amendment that would prevent the government from working with contractors who denied victims of assault the right to bring their case to court is in danger of being watered down or stripped entirely from a larger defense appropriations bill.

Multiple sources have told the Huffington Post that Sen. Dan Inouye, a longtime Democrat from Hawaii, is considering removing or altering the provision, which was offered by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and passed by the Senate several weeks ago.

Inouye's office, sources say, has been lobbied by defense contractors adamant that the language of the Franken amendment would leave them overly exposed to lawsuits and at constant risk of having contracts dry up. The Senate is considering taking out a provision known as the Title VII claim, which (if removed) would allow victims of assault or rape to bring suit against the individual perpetrator but not the contractor who employed him or her.

"The defense contractors have been storming his office," said a source with knowledge of the situation. "Inouye either will get the amendment taken out altogether, or water it down significantly. If they water it down, they will take out the Title VII claims. This means that in discrimination cases, they will still force you into a secret forced arbitration on KBR's (or other contractors') own terms -- with your chances of prevailing practically zero. The House seems to be very supportive of the original Franken amendment and all in line, but their hands are tied since it originated in the Senate. And since Inouye runs the show on this bill, he can easily take it out to get Republicans and the defense contractors off his back, which looks increasingly likely."

If this article is accurate it represents fantastic news for the movement – bipartisan support for rape!

This is good news. We need something to balance those traitor Republicans like the ten in the Senate and the likes of Rep. Ted Poe ("R"-Tx) who are not with the program.

Awesome blog! Poor contractors! I certainly hope they can survive this onslaught against their God-given right to sweep rape under the rug!

Those defense contractors sure know how to win a girl's heart! Let's see if Sen. Inoyue can be a real man by standing alongside "The 30" Republican men who know what's best for both women and defense contractors.

Some people think this guy is just caving in to defense contractor pressure and lobbying, but the fact of the matter is that Daniel Inouye has been a longtime rape supporter.

God bless him, that man is dedicated to rape!

"The defense contractors have been storming his office,"

Is this the part where they promise the Senators daughter a job when all this goes their way?

Since when is Hawaii part of America?

again...I'm sure you have all told the whole story... It's shit like this marketing crap that spins stuff and makes it all just stupid... they hide b.s. in these bills that is totally irrelevant to the cause then run around saying you're "for rape" if you vote against it. And idiots like this site promote it...
both side do it equally and most sheep in this country fall for it.

Keep on.... fools!!

Remember folks two things are useful:

A. It's useful to be a constituent. Very useful.

B. Proxies are useful to hide your real location. When leaving a message to Mr. Inouye your *cough* *cough* senator I strongly suggest you leave use a proxy. Google proxy. If need look up "(internet) proxy" at wikipedia. Knowledge is power.

Proxies are slow and annoying - it may take a few minutes to find one that works - but people - c'mon - rape needs your support!

The form that pops up requires:

1. a first and last name
2. an address (constituents live in Hawaii)
3. a city (constituents live in Hawaii)
4. a state (constituents live in Hawaii)
5. a zip (constituents live in Hawaii)
6. an email (I wonder if it gets checked. Hmm....)

Okay boys and girls - you get the hint? I have a feeling that emails from non-constituents are glanced at, ignored and then deleted.

The following is all done in the name of fun and for demonstration purposes only.

#1 - I think that's manageable without assistance.

#2, #3 - The link is google map link for hawaii.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hawaii&sll=35.672324,-105.948758&sspn=0.007356,0.010021&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Hawaii&z=6
I don't know if links are allowed. Gee whiz - would you look at that - maps have addresses and cities.

#4 - The default state in the drop down is Hawaii.

#5 Google hawaii zip code
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&tbo=1&num=100&q=hawaii+zip+code&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10

#6 - Boys and girls, I think I've done enough already.

----

This was my message:

_____________________
Dr. Mr. Inouye,

As a proud member of our military - I salute you in supporting rape!

Boyah!

Sincerely,
[name of a guy in the military who actually lives in Hawaii]

And, boys and girls, note that - even though it was annoying and slow - I used a proxy *FIRST* and then went to the link via the proxy. Supporting rape requires REAL effort!!!

I was going to blog all that - but this comment thread will surely get many more eyeballs than my blog ever would. Feel free to copy and paste the advice and share it widely. God bless America.

satire or not, this site is utterly tasteless and insensitive to women and victims of sexual assault everywhere. You're no better than the republicans you are trying to satirize. For shame.

To the previous blog from gaylib, hey do I go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth? Get the clue you get so much further with humor than being all serious, so what have you done to support the issue, where is your web site?

So if you have time to stop sucking dicks, get a sense of humor and help the rape cause! Understand a little tongue and dick in your mouth!

1 in 6 American women are raped. 1 in 4 female college students. What percentage of American men then, are rapists? Of course, since the vast majority of rapist get away with it, we don't know. But, if one in 6 females are raped, there must be a whole lot of men out there raping. And until they stop getting away with it, your sisters, daughters, nieces, and neighbors are at risk.

You can tell a rapist by his thinking. He blames the victim. These blogs are full of men who blame women for being raped. Many of them are rapists, or have been influenced by men who are. A rapist has power and control issues and a whole lot of self-loathing that he projects on his victims. So, when you read one of the many outrageous posting calling a rape victim a whore, you know that it is probably a rapist who is talking. And he believes it. This is why he needs to be put in prison where he can't hurt anyone else.

Called the Senator's office and told the woman that I was appalled that a male Senator in this day and age would side with a rapist over the victim.

Take note about Daniel Inouye's Wikipedia page. It's not locked.

Some clever/funny person could edit it - say on Sunday evening and then early the next morning - call - as in telephone - The Daily Show and The Colbert Report to tell them about the funny thing you found.

It's hard work to give a reach around the aisle to.... Ooops - I mean reach across the aisle.

I have emailed my two senators, who unfortunately voted NO. Both of them. But is to be expected with those two and it is consistent with their abysmal politics. THEN, I emailed Sen. Sessions a second time when I read his defense of voting no. Something to the effect, "the amendment is just a way for the Democratic Party to get back at Halliburton .." So, I take it that one, Sessions has no bipartisan bones in his body, and two, that he bases his votes, and maybe his morals, on thwarting any attempt by the Democratic Party to progress any legislation (in healthcare, and other social issues) that benefit the people in this country. Such a travesty? Does he even know right from wrong?
